*Ben Morea is the power behind the anarchist collectives Up Against The Wall Motherfuckers (U.A.W.M.F.), International Werewolf Conspiracy (I.W.C.), and the zine/broadside Black Mask from 1959 to 1969 in New York. At the same time, Morea has been a painter with references from abstract expressionism and russian suprematism, to ancient art. In addition, he was part of the free jazz scene in San Juan Hill, the northern part of the neighborhood Hell's Kitchen. Morea had personal relationships with people from the political arena (members of the "Libertarian League","Durruti Brigade", and the "Black Panthers") and from the art world alike, such as Miles Davis, John Cage and Valerie Solanas. Through his contact with Murray Bookchin, Morea adopted the term aficionado de vairos, translating it into english as affinity groups to describe the operation of UAWMF and I.W.C. The members of these collectives referred to them as "the Family". In 1969 Morea, his wife and other members of the Family fled from New York to participate in the uprising of Chicano movement (El Movimiento) among other armed groups at Sangre de Cristo mountains in New Mexico. In 2010 Morea returned to New York after a 40-year absence, a period during which he came close, supported and shared an everyday life with Native American communities in the south-west of USA. Today Morea remains politically active and shares his experiences through public speeches, with his ideas becoming an inspiration to political events during the last decade.
